The front cover of this wooden photo album is made of Bolivian Rosewood, or Morado Rosewood, one of the true Rosewoods. Typically a small to mid-sized tree from southern Brazil and Bolivia. A very hard and dense wood, this Rosewood polishes extremely well. This particular piece is quartersawn, which gives it a black and brown striped appearance. Antique solid brass hinges. The back cover is ebonized American Black Walnut. This particular piece is almost solid black and accents the black stripes on the front cover.
Here is a closer look at the binding detail. The center strip is removed to allow for the pages that can be added. The other 2 strips are left in place to "sandwich" the pages between the top and bottom cover. If more pages are added, the strips can be removed to allow for them, or only a center strip can be used with pages on either side. Instruction sheet included.
