The front cover of this wooden photo album is made of African Padauk, which is a striking orange color. The outer part of the tree, the sap wood, is much lighter cream color. I found a Padauk board that had a large amount of the lighter sap wood, and was able to create the contrasting front cover. Notice how the lighter sapwood seems to gradually transition into the darker heartwood. Bright solid brass hinges. Instructions included.

The back cover is another African wood, Lovoa, sometimes referred to as Uganda Walnut. The mahogany-like appearance of this wood is a good match for the Padauk cover.
Here is a closer look at the binding detail. The center strip is removed to allow for the pages that can be added. The other 2 Padauk strips are left in place to "sandwich" the pages between the top and bottom cover. If more pages are added, the strips can be removed to allow for them, or only a center strip can be used with pages on either side. Instruction sheet included.
