This wooden photo album is made of Leopardwood and Andiroba, a Central American wood similar in appearance to Mahogany. Leopardwood is similar to Australia's Lacewood, but actually comes from South America, and has an incredible speckled, or "flakey" figure that almost resembles fish scales. Bright solid brass hinges. The back cover is made from Andiroba, a Central American wood often used for boat decks. It has a somewhat reddish-brown color with grain appearance similar to Mahogany.
Here is a closer look at the binding detail. The center Cherry strip is removed to allow for the pages that can be added. The other 2 Ash strips are left in place to "sandwich" the pages between the top and bottom cover. If more pages are added, the strips can be removed to allow for them, or only a center strip can be used with pages on either side. Instruction sheet included.
