Bamboo Cutting Boards and SPAM from Shanghai, China Here's spam e-mail I received on Jan. 8: Subject: series bamboo cutting boards photoes from (redacted) Mr. Wang said he found me on Google, but he lied. The below screenshot is from Statcounter detailing his visit. He thinks I sell bamboo cutting boards and agree with the alleged environmentally friendliness of bamboo. I think he can't read english.
And attached were the following eleven photos. Note that these boards are constructed from strand after strand of bamboo fiber, held together with a binding agent. They may be nice to look at, but I would not want to eat off of them. Back in 1992, the state of California declared that formaldehyde was a toxic air contaminant with no safe threshold. The US Environmental Protection Agency has classified formaldehyde as a possible human carcinogen. Does anyone think China cares? Think about Chinese lead paint tainted toys and plastic filled pet foods. As their market share increases, they clearcut forests to make room to grow it.
China is quickly becoming the number one source for Spam. There are 2 types of spammers - those who promote products to end users, the penis patch, drugs, gambling sites, etc., and those foreign concerns that spam site owners hoping to open new markets for their products. The later are typically Asian manufacturers. I won't support them and neither should you. Enough is enough. Mr. Wang, reporting you to this page is for you and anyone that wants to know the truth about your products and how you market them. Please don't support products that are misrepresented as safe and environmentally friendly - products that could be down right dangerous to own. And now you can be be advised of their deceptive marketing practices. Please continue to support fine American craft at every opportunity.
