This chess set is solid wood construction.  I make a series of wooden panels and cut them into sections that are used to create perfectly aligned squares.  This is the smallest set I make, and is the perfect smaller sized board for youngsters, or for those wanting a high quality handcrafted set at a excellent price.   1-1/4" Walnut and White Pine squares with Walnut border.

Several coats of a water-proof hand-rubbed poly are applied to preserve and protect the woods.  The overall appearance, fit and finish is superb.   I have received numerous compliments from other woodworkers about the quality of these boards.

The pieces are the French style Staunton and are made of lacquered Maple.  Natural and painted.    The king measures 2-1/4" tall.
