Handcrafted Wooden Chess Set

Natural colors of Purpleheart, Padauk and Maple.

This chess set is solid wood construction. I make a series of wooden panels and cut them into sections that are used to create perfectly aligned squares. An extremely colorful and attractive smaller set. I chose this wood combination because I like the color combination - especially with the ebony and whitewood pieces. Laminated wooden chess boards can be a real challenge to make, and this set is sure to become a family heirloom.

A nice table edge is routed onto the top edge for a more classical and finished look. Several coats of a water-proof hand-rubbed poly are applied to preserve and protect the woods. The overall appearance, fit and finish is superb. I have received numerous compliments from other woodworkers about the quality of these boards.

The pieces are the German style Staunton and are made of Rosewood and Boxwood. They are weighted and felted. The king measures 2-3/4" tall. Extra Queens included.
